Scarf for Men and Women

A friend of mine wanted me to make a scarf for her husband. She sent me a picture she liked and now I'm in the process of making it. I used in this scarf grey 100% acrylic yarn. The scarf is worked vertically. I will be posting the pictures of the scarf when I finish ensha2 Allah*.

Pattern:

Chain until it reaches about 190 cm.

Row 1: dc in fourth chain from the hook, turn.
Row 2: chain 1, sc in back loops only, turn.
Row 3: chain 3 (acts as 1 dc), dc in back loop of next stitches.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the width of the scarf becomes about 10cm.

*dc = double crochet
*sc = single crochet

* ensha2 Allah means in Arabic "if God wills".

  1. I'm new to crochet and it hadn't yet occurred to me to work vertically. I LOVE this. Can you point me to some tips on making the fringe at the end?

    2. 3.0 hook is too small, I'm using a H, I or J hook.

  6. Don't mean to sound dumb but what does 190 cm equal out to in number of chains?

  7. Can you please tell me how many chains equal 190 cm? What letter size hook did you use. Thank you.

  8. Friends, I see the question for "how many chains equal 190 cm?". The answer to that question is not an easy one. Everyone crochets differently. Some people crochet tight and others looser. I just start crocheting a chain and measuring it until it reaches the correct length that the pattern calls for. Hope that helps. :)

  10. The scarf is beautiful. I hate to sound dumb, but on row 1, do you double crochet in each chain or just one and turn? Thanks for sharing.

    1. I was wondering that, too. Did you ever get the answer to that question?

  11. Is this in UK or American terms? Dc in the States is different than European

    1. From looking at the photo on Ravelry, it looks to be American terms.

  12. It must be American because there are no Sc in English terms. Also any amount of chains to start will work because there's no pattern sequence. The first row looks like dc across. It looks gorgeous and I'm just starting now with variegated yarn. Thanks so much for the free pattern
